VI COMMANDO

Spr. Ron Pealing

(S/N 14246025)

Sapper Ron Pealing, formerly of the Royal Engineers, served with No.3 Troop of No.6 Commando from, at least, June 1944 .

Ron Pealing, along with Jim Templeton, formed the Troop's flamethrower unit on D-Day.

Ron was later reported as being Wounded In Action (WIA) by mortar bomb shrapnel at Breville on D-Day, 6th June 1944, and evacuated to the 6th Airborne Regimental Aid Post at nearby Ranville. However, after treatment and recuperation in Normandy, he was returned to the Commando at Bavent, Normandy, in early August 1944.

It is noted that Ron Pealing came originally from Manchester and, following the war, returned to his home town to become a builder.
